How FineThanx works
FineThanx is a convenient automated service that places a once or twice daily call to a special someone living independently. You choose the call frequency — and even the time period. And, you can have calls made to two different phones — home and mobile, for example.
Pressing #1 indicates all is well; pressing #2 means a request for assistance. It's that simple. Emails then go to a Care Circle of family, friends, and professionals, and everyone knows that all is well.
If assistance is requested, or if a call goes unanswered after three attempts at each listed number, a second automated calling sequence is initiated to the Care Circle, one person at a time, up to 5 people, until someone who can respond is reached. Now, that's peace of mind.

Does FineThanx help in an emergency?
FineThanx is not for emergencies, but for daily wellness confirmations. In an emergency, dial 911.
Do I need any special equipment or devices to use FineThanx?
No. All you need is a telephone. Web access is needed only to set up and manage the account.
Is FineThanx only for Seniors?
Not at all. FineThanx is ideal for those with special needs who wish to be independent, or anyone living on their own.
Is FineThanx a replacement for personal alert systems?
Because they accomplish different objectives, most people think of FineThanx and personal alert systems as complementary.
What if my special someone does not answer the phone?
FineThanx considers an unanswered call or a voice mail recording as a "no response." FineThanx will make two additional sets of calls (to each of the listed numbers), after which if there is still no response, the Care Circle calling sequence is initiated. (Note: answering machine or voicemail outgoing messages should be at least 18 seconds long to avoid FineThanx messages being recorded.)
If spoken slowly the following example is approximately 18 seconds long, feel free to use this to help guide the recording of your own outgoing message. "Hello, this is Jane Smith and you have reached my voicemail. I am sorry I have missed your phone call today. If you would please leave a detailed message for me including your name, a phone number and the time you called, I will get back to you just as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your call and have a fantastic day."
How will my special someone know what to do when FineThanx calls?
A brief greeting explains what to do. As it quickly becomes routine for them, after hearing the FineThanx musical tone, your special someone will most likely press one and hang up.
What if my special someone is okay, but just forgot their phone?
Alert phone calls to the Care Circle are generated if there is a request for assistance (#2 was pressed) or for a non-response (your special someone left their mobile phone at home), which is triggered after three sets of calls to each of the listed numbers go unanswered. We only notify the Care Circle that everything is okay if your special someone presses #1 for "I'm okay" and the Care Circle member has chosen this option of email notification.
Can I arrange for the FineThanx service outside of the continental U.S.?
FineThanx is currently restricted to the continental United States only.
If my special someone needs assistance, what notification will I receive?
You will receive an automated phone call from FineThanx alerting you, and, if you choose, you can also receive an email and a text message. Click here to listen to a sample call.
